Similarly when they spent a good amount of time in their highly respectable career, their early relieve from services demand that they should be re-settled in demanded and respected work-life where they can find use of their inherent skills, which are relevant and important to corporate world. Working for a corporate arena demands that professionals should be at dissonance with civilian and corporate life; hence, indeed, this programme is an inter-linking pin for such professionals to re-orient themselves towards their new professional life.
It is clear that in this technology savvy era, only knowledge-based employment is possible, and generalized experience will not be of helpful. Hence, we have designed a challenging learning experience that focuses on real-world problems and solutions, providing new knowledge and tools to face challenges in corporate arena.The objectives of this programme are:

- To provide them the exposure in different areas of management that is necessary while selecting the second career and also to help them to get the appropriate position in the business world.
- The focus of the programme would be on all functional aspects of management, like, operations management, marketing, strategy, human resource management and organizational behavior, Information technology and its recent development, economics, finance and accounting, and supply chain management.
Officers of all ranks between Captain and Brigadier equivalent only are eligible for this course. These officers must have completed five years of commissioned service on the day of commencement of the course. The Certificate Course in Business Management for Defence Officers is spread over six terms. Each Term has 4 courses. During the 24 weeks of the programme, the participant will receive academic inputs in two parts, namely, the Core courses and the Domain courses. Distinct objectives will be served by each course. Largely, the core courses will be in the first four terms and the domain courses would be in the fifth & sixth term. The input of the core courses is essential for all managers.
The aim of the core courses is to provide participants with the fundamental knowledge, skills and techniques, contextual understanding, and overall perspective, necessary for general management. Compulsory coursework will provide broad training to participants that will help them in career flexibility and mobility. It will also help them move towards general management positions where the challenges and the contributions may be the greatest.
The mixture of core and domain courses will help the participants develop an in-depth understanding of the interrelationships crucial to successful business management. This will enable them to be more effective in their jobs while being sensitive to the issue and challenges confronting people in the other parts of the organisation.
Pedagogy / Methodology
24 weeks programme will include various in vogue pedagogy like, case method, lectures, exercises, simulation and games, projects/ assignments etc.
It would be completely conducted by the best resources and faculty of all relevant area of IIM Indore. IIM Indore would also be inviting some Professionals from industry. To get an idea of participants learning, each course would be reviewed and assessed in the form of quizzes/ assignments/projects and exams.
Performance of participants will be monitored on a continuous basis through quizzes, assignments, tests and examinations. To qualify an examination, the participant is required to score a minimum letter grade.
On successful completion of the programme participants will be awarded with certificate of completion.
