As in the past, we are trying to do an outstanding programme. | | | Unfortunately, we lost one of our colleagues under tragic circumstances on December 18, 2009. A small write up is enclosed. In view of this, there has been significant diversion of energies in terms of the activities in the Institute. Therefore, I am constrained to postpone the programme till the first week of March. The new dates are March 1-5, 2010. I am sorry for the inconvenience that this might have caused to you. But we have no choice. I hope I have your understanding. | | | Your registeration fee would be kept with us. In case you decide to withdraw your participation, please let us know so that we can arrange to send you the registeration fee back. | | | | Thank you. | | | | N.Ravichandran | | | | | | | NOTE | | | Dr. Amrata Pancholi working as an Assistant Professor in Organizational Behaviour Area at Indian Institute of Management Indore since 26th May 2008 was found dead on her campus residence (Faculty Quarter No.32) on 18.12.2009 morning. | | | An FIR was filed with the Indore police by the Institute on 18.12.2009. The police subsequently cracked the crime and identified Mr.Anil Patel who was employed as a Driver in the Institute as the main culprit. Mr. Anil Patel was regularized on employment w.e.f. July 16, 1999. He was arrested for a petty crime on 26.7.2003. The Institute placed him under suspension from July 27, 2003. Based on a review he was taken back to the service of the Institute on 05.09.2006. Based on his behaviour he has been moved from transport department (driver) to MDP office as a peon on 21.11.2009. | | | Members of IIM, Indore Community are in a state of shock due to this unfortunate event happened to a faculty at IIM, Indore. Condolence meeting by the IIMI Community was organized on 19.12.2009. The faculty council passed a condolence resolution in its meeting held on 19.12.2009 and also instituted Dr. Amrata Pancholi Memorial fund to conduct academic activities in her memory at the Institute. | | | Institute has appointed a Committee headed by Former Director General of Police, Shri S.K. Das and other members (Professors Ganesh Kumar, L.V. Ramana, A. Kanagaraj, K.K. Jain, Nisha Nair and Mr. K.R. Unni) to thoroughly review the existing safety and security procedures of the Institute. The Director met the faculty and community members in the campus to re-assure them about the safety and security aspects on the Campus. | | | Several administrative measures have been taken to strengthen the security in the residential (staff and faculty) quarters. We have deployed more security men. The lighting system has been changed. Magic eye on the doors in the houses are fixed. Houses are provided with chain lockers. Vehicular traffic to the faculty quarters has been completely banned. The main gate No.1 and No.2 doors have been strengthened. In the next few weeks, several initiatives like CCTV camera, issue of identification cards, strengthening the security, etc would be undertaken. | | | The Director is in the process of talking to staff and students to restore their confidence on the safety and security of the Campus. | | | While the Campus mourns the death of Dr. Amrata Pancholi, the staff, faculty and students are re-dedicating themselves to the growth and academic excellence of IIM, Indore. |
