The Art of Joyful Living

B.K.Shivani spoke about the importance of managing ones own mind to live a stress-free life and to successfully manage organizations. Her measage was simple - if mind is in our control life can be joyful. External stimulus is the same for all people. These are things which are not in our control. But the response to the stimulus is within our control. We can choose not to get perturbed under a given situation. We have to learn to control the response to learn the 'Art of joyful living'. Control over mind gives stability when there is turbulence in external world. A true leader is one who does not indulge in blame game in the face of failure but instead provides stability and is able to develop measured response to a given situation.

B.K.Shivani gave useful suggestions as to how one can learn the art of joyful living.

*

Start the day with positive thoughts as they tend to influence the rest of the day. She suggested that the best way to do that would be not to read news paper in the early morning and stuff ones mind with negative news items. Instead, stat the day with 10 minutes of meditation and prioritise thoughts and delete the ones that are not necessary.

*

Take a pause of one minute every two hours in the day and prioritize one's thoughts. Keep only what is relevant at that moment and delete the rest of them.

*

Before going to bed clean up ones thoughts and delete negative thoughts from mind. Sleep will not be sound if one goes to bed with mind occupied with lot of ideas.

*

Early to bed and early to rise. Creative ideas and innovation can happen in the early hours of the morning when mind is fresh after a sound sleep.
