The Inaugural
function of the 2nd Excellence in Research and Education Conference
2010 (EREC’10) was held on 14th May 2010, at Indian Institute of
Management Indore. The conference was inaugurated by lighting up of
the lamp by the Key Note Speaker, Hon. Shri M N Buch
(Chairman, National Center for Human Settlements and Environment,
Bhopal), Prof. V K Gupta (Dean- Administration, IIMI), Prof. Kamal K
Jain (Chair, FPM, IIMI), Krishna C Balodi (Coordinator, EREC’10) and
Alok Singh (Organizing Committee, EREC’10).
Delivering his key
note address Mr Buch emphasized on the importance of innovation in
management. He stated that such innovation should be part of a
faculty’s teaching and research and that is the secret of excelling
in research and education.
The session was followed by a talk by Mr. H R Rao, MD, MP Tourism
Development Corporation who gave a vivid account of research
opportunities available in the field of tourism. He called upon the
researchers to explore this unexplored area and offered assistance
for such projects. The guest talk was followed by a presentation
session in Finance chaired by Prof V K Gupta.
More than 84
participants including research scholars, students, and academicians
from educational institutions from the various parts of the country
registered for the conference.
The basic theme of
the conference is “providing an ecosystem for doctoral research in
Indian Educational Institutions that strengthens the foundation of
the discipline for teaching, publication and practice�. The purpose
of this conference is to provide an opportunity for individuals with
various research philosophies and interests to get together and
promote the development of doctoral research in academic
institutions.
