• Is there an orientation program arranged for the Exchange students?
During the first week an informal meeting will be arranged with the students on campus to serve as an ice-breaker and to facilitate interaction among the exchange students and IIM I students.
• Will I be assigned a buddy once I reach in campus?
Here in IIM we are all your buddies and will ensure that your stay will be taken care of. No buddy as such is assigned since we want you to be able to interact with as many students on campus as possible. However before your arrival we will assign you a student on campus to take care of your electives of courses and other issues.
• How do I reach the campus from the Airport?
IIM I's campus is approximately 20 kms from the airport. Once we get to know your arrival dates we will book a taxi to pick you up and drop you to the campus.

• Is it ok to arrive/register late for the semester?
Here in IIM I we follow our deadlines very strictly and hence would advice you to reach in time. However exceptions can be done in case of genuine emergencies.
• Are the courses really heavy in terms of the amount of work required ?
This depends from course to course. Some of them might require in depth knowledge of the area and hence we advise you to consult the contact assigned to you to take your courses accordingly.
• What are the timings of the class?
The class timings are 9:30 am to 1:30 pm for the PGP1 participants. Each class is for a duration of 70 mins with 15mins break in between two classes. However you will be studying with the PGP2 participants who usually have courses with the visiting faculties. Hence the course timings are not fixed and change according to the availability of the professors. A schedule will be given to you once you reach campus and will be the same for the rest of the term.
• Do we get the schedule for the whole semester directly from day one or is it given week after week?
A schedule will be given to you on the first day of your course, but it will be subject to minor modifications over the course of the trimester. All the holidays marked will not change, however.
• How many hours do a 2 credit and 4 credit course last?
A 2 credit course consists of 14 hours - 12 classes of 70 minutess each and a 4 credit course consists of 28 hours - 24 classes of 70 minutes each.
• Is it possible to follow an English course?
Unfortunately, we don't have an English tutoring course, but there will be several students on campus who will be able to give you informal teaching sessions.
• Will we be provided accommodation on campus?
Yes absolutely. We have a fully residential campus and hence you will be required to stay on campus. The rooms will be provided at a very nominal fee and are eqipped with internet connectivity.
• Are there medical facilities on campus?
Yes, there is a full time doctor on campus and it is possible to get all the medicines on campus itself.
• Are the hostels on campus equipped with a kitchen ? Is there a place to cook on campus or does everyone go to the mess ?
The hostels aren't equipped with kitchennettes - everyone eats in the canteen on campus. However we do have an area to cook in the canteen which can be used by the exchange students.
• Do we have internet in our bedrooms?
All rooms are internet capable (via a LAN cable which we will provide) - please do bring your laptop along.
• Is it easy to find some cream against mosquitoes on campus?
No problem at all - it will be available either at our on-campus store or nearby in Rau. Alternatively we can fumigate your rooms by request for pest control.
• Is it possible to buy basic amenities like bed sheets, towels etc on campus or in Rau?
It is possible although going to Indore city would be advisable. We organise a shopping expedition within a couple of days of your arrival hence it is advisable to bring along bed sheets and towels along with you for immediate usage.
• Is there a curfew on campus?
You need to be back on campus by 11pm, 7 days a week to ensure your safety.
• How is the climate in Indore?
Indore has a transitional climate between a tropical wet and dry and a humid sub-tropical climate. Three distinct seasons are observed, summer, monsoon and winter. Summer's start in mid-March and can be extremely hot. The average temperatures are around 32 °C (90 °F) but humidity is very low. Due to Indore's location on the southern edge of the Malwa Plateau, a cool breeze (also referred to as Shab-e-Malwa) in the evenings making summer nights quite pleasant. The monsoon season starts in late June, with temperatures averaging around 26 °C (78 °F), with sustained, torrential rainfall and high humidity. Winter's start in mid-November and are dry, mild and sunny. Temperature's average about 18-20 °C (65-68 °F), but can fall close to freezing on some nights.
Indore gets moderate rainfall of 35 to 38 inches (890 to 965 mm) during July-September due to the southwest monsoon.
• Is it possible to travel around India given the hectic IIM schedule?
You will find enough time in between courses to travel around India. As soon as the schedule is given to you an itinerary can be planned out so that you dont miss any courses and at the same time plan your travel around India.
