Mercur-I, the Marketing Club of IIM Indore, aims to keep participants abreast with the latest developments and trends in the marketing panorama and helps in honing skills necessary to succeed in today's complex business environment.
Mercur-I endeavours to stimulate the creativity of the participants of IIM Indore by conducting regular events like quizzes, discussions, debates and various other contests with an aim to unlock the ingenuity of the participants, apart from offering a platform for all the budding Kotlers to match their wits and creativity. It also seeks to provide an interface between industry and academia by conducting research and consultancy projects for various companies.
Through the year, Mercur-I organises several marketing activities ranging from Marketing games to Consultancy Projects to Guest Lectures to Industry Projects under its flagship event, Utsaha.
MoT: Something that both marketers and non-marketers alike look forward to with enthusiastic anticipation is the Marketer of the Term (MoT) award. A series of games over a course of each term, involving Puzzles, Crosswords, Quizzes, Simulation games, etc are designed to test the talent of marketers in creating and branding products, where participants slug it out to amass the maximum points and win the coveted MoT crown.
Guest Lectures: Mercur-I organises guest lectures by by eminent names in the corporate world. Participants get valuable insights into how the industry works and prepares them for the big bad chaotic world of marketing outside the cozy and familiar confines of textbooks.
Consultancy Projects: Serious Marketers are provided a platform to translate their marketing knowledge into practical use, taking up consultancy projects for several companies. This also enables the students to learn while providing them invaluable hands-on experience of the industry. Over the years, various projects have rolled out from the stables of Mercur-I for several organisations such as Dainik Bhaskar, CellStrat, CollegeSpeaks.com, etc.
Utsaha!
UtsAha! is the flagship event of Mercur-I. Over the years, UtsAha! has become the biggest marketing fair conducted by any Business school in India. UtsAha! is a concept that aims to bridge the gap between a marketer's plans and the consumer's mind to provide solutions to marketers across different industries.
UtsAha! is organized each year in the heart of the city, where the public at large, with footfalls in the thousands, interacts with the participants of IIM Indore. The intent here is to provide research-based solutions to live corporate problems in the field of marketing. The corporates use the potential of UtsAha! through the various mediums available like research projects, promotional campaigns, and product launches. The funds are generated through sponsorship, by the participating corporates. For the record, the differentiating factor between Market research conducted by IIM Indore and any other research agency lies in the fact that the entire event is completely designed and conducted by the students. This ensures that the people who are gathering data are the same as those who conceptualized the questionnaire. This ensures that the responses that are received are exactly that which are required for data analysis.
