Paying tribute to the contributions made by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay to the nation, IIM Indore is celebrating his Birth Centenary. The Institute is conducting various events with a purpose to create awareness among the IIM Indore community about Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s work and life. The first event was a movie screening on the life of Pt. Upadhayay held in June. As a part of these celebrations, the Institute organized a Guest Talk on ‘Life and Teachings of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay’ on July 12, 2017. He was founder of Philosophy of Integral Humanism. The talk was delivered by Dr. Divya Gupta, Chairperson, Jwala—Om Nagpal Sodh Sansthan and Happydaddymom initiative.
Dr. Gupta enlightened the audience discussing the early life and major events of Pt. Upadhyay’s life. Mentioning about his vision towards the life, Dr. Gupta said, ‘Pt. Upadhyay believed that the primary concern in India must be to develop an indigenous economic model that puts the human being at center stage. A society’s values are built and strengthened through education and code of conduct’.
She also talked about Philosophy of Integral Humanism, which advocates the simultaneous and integrated programme of body, mind, intellect and soul of every human being. He visualized for India a decentralized polity and self-reliant economy with the village as the base, believing in Swaraj (self-governance).
The talk was well attended by faculty, students and staff of IIM Indore.
The Institute will continue the celebrations by various other events including
blood-donation camp, health checkup camp and essay writing competition.
