In order to promote the use of the official language Hindi, the Hindi Fortnight began at IIM Indore on September 14, 2016 on the National Hindi Day. The two week event would witness various competitions, open for the entire IIM Indore community including students, staff and faculty; like Hindi Quiz, Drafting-Noting, Hindi Antakshari, Elocution and Hindi Song competition.
The inauguration of the fortnight took place in the presence of Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director, IIM Indore and Col. K.T. Udupa, CAO, IIM Indore. Professor Krishnan mentioned that Hindi has always been an integral part of the education system. But the people from regions where Hindi isn’t a native pay more attention to grammar and spellings. They don’t take Hindi for granted and pay attention to minor details. ‘We all are good at Hindi, but now it is time to pay attention to improve the way we speak and use this language’, he said. He also congratulated the Hindi Committee for organizing the event.
Col. Udupa then recited the Hindi Diwas Message by Shri Rajnath Singh, Hon. Home Minister of India, Government of India.
This was followed by the first competition of the fortnight—The Hindi Quiz. The event witnessed more than 40 participants. The quiz revolved around Hindi Literature, famous authors, famous Indian personalities and current affairs & sports as well.
The next competition—Noting and Drafting would be held on September 16, 2016. A Hindi workshop would also be conducted.
The results of all the events would be declared on September 29, 2016 during the concluding ceremony.
