With an objective to create awareness related to safety hazards and encouraging the IIM Indore community to stay attentive with respect to all kind of dangers, a Safety Sensitization Workshop was conducted at the Institute on March 15, 2017. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Jigar Kantharia, Officer (Safety), IIM Indore.
Mr. Kantharia began with a presentation explaining the types of hazards which may be caused and noted previous incidences which were taken care of effectively. He also shared a major dummy safety hazard planned by Safety Committee, wherein a few lose electric wires were left unattended. The objective of the dummy safety hazard was to test the attentiveness of the IIM Indore community members, and note whether or not someone observes the wires, identifies them as hazards and informs the committee.
‘A small issue may not really look like a hazard, but it may cause a big damage. Similarly there might be some issue which may be looking like something which may cause damage, but might not be considered as hazard. However, everyone should stay alert and take precaution by informing the Safety Committee’, Mr. Kantharia concluded.
The workshop was attended by over fifty participants from all the departments of the Institute.
