Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIMI) invites applications for the position of Director. Established in 1996, IIMI has been a leader in the field of management education, interfacing with the industry, government, and PSUs. It is promoted and nurtured by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and is an institute of national importance under the Indian Institutes of Management Act 2017. IIMI currently has over 1800 students across various programmes and has a little over 100 faculty members. The institute started innovative programmes like the five-year Integrated Programme in Management, and others meeting different segments of management education. The institute has three international accreditations for its academic programmes.
The Director will lead a team committed to realizing the institute’s mission of striving to be a contextually relevant business school with world-class academic standards. The Director, in the role of Chief Executive Officer of the institute, will provide impetus to all academic and administrative activities. These would encompass fostering relationships with all stakeholders, including enhancing linkages with the industry.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The age of the applicant should preferably not be more than 65 years as on the first day of January 2023.
- Must be a distinguished academic with a Ph.D. or equivalent having at least fifteen years of Teaching or Research experience and shall have worked as a Full Professor at a reputed institution for at least seven years or shall have industry experience at a higher level for at least fifteen years.
- Must be an Indian citizen or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
Desired Criteria:
- Academic excellence: The candidate should have a strong academic record and reputation in their field.
- Leadership skills: The candidate should have experience in a leadership position and be able to effectively manage faculty, staff, and students.
- Financial acumen: The candidate should have a good understanding of budgeting and financial management, as they will be responsible for overseeing the Institute’s finances.
- Fundraising skills: The candidate should have the ability to fundraise and attract donations to the Institute.
- Communication skills: The candidate should be an effective communicator, able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the wider community.
- Visionary and strategic thinking: The candidate should have a vision for the Institute’s future and be able to develop and implement strategies to achieve it.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion: The candidate should have a deep commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive campus community.
- Public relations and advocacy: The candidate should be able to represent the institute to the media, government officials, and other external stakeholders.
- Experience in higher education: The candidate should have a deep understanding of higher education and the challenges facing institutions today.
Tenure:
The selected candidate would have a tenure of five years or until he/she reaches the age of seventy (70) years of age of superannuation, whichever is earlier.
Process of Selection:
The Search-Cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) constituted by the Board will consider applications received in response to this advertisement as well as the candidature of those received on a nomination or search basis, fulfilling the above criteria. The applications and nominations shortlisted will be limited to a reasonable number based on essential and desired criteria. The SCSC will then have an interaction with the shortlisted candidates. The appointment shall be in accordance with the IIM Act 2017 and IIM Rules 2018. Applicants are required to submit (a) Application Form along with supporting documents, (b) Detailed CV, and (c) An essay of not more than 500 words mentioning their vision for the Institute and highlighting how their leadership can achieve the same.
