Programme Overview
The Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Investment Banking (PGCPIB) is designed to offer the required knowledge for professionals to handle the various aspects of investment banking roles and responsibilities including asset management, security valuation, like stocks, bonds and other derivative instruments to meet specified investment goals for the benefit of the investors. The course also aims to cater the other functional areas of investment banking like Mergers & Acquisitions, Investment and portfolio management and investment advisory services to high net worth individuals. The programme also covers the knowledge of tools and techniques required for optimizing risk-returns framework within different asset classes.
The core of the investment banking role is raising money for client. This is primarily done in two ways: by issuing equity and debt of the company. A company wanting to issue bonds hires an investment bank not only to help in structuring the bonds but also to tap the potential investors through their vast network. It works the same way for raising capital by selling equity, or stock. Investment bankers serve as the primary go-to people when a company holds an Initial Public Offer (IPO) to sell stock to the public. The role of the investment bankers includes the determination of IPO price as well.
The programme provides real-time knowledge and skills pertaining to Investment Banking. In short the programme will enable participants in taking informed and effective decisions in the areas of M & A, IPO’s, Valuation, Bond trading portfolio advisory services etc. and hands-on knowledge and skills to become a successful Investment Banker. The programme aims to groom commerce or non-commerce graduates for core investment banking and other specialized finance jobs allied to Investment Banking, Equity Research, Credit Analysis, Financial Analysis, Project Finance, Portfolio Management, Capital Markets etc. By undertaking this course one can gain in-depth knowledge of the concepts and real-life application of Finance which are covered along with practical case studies. The flexible design of the programme will help both full-time students and working professionals to pursue the programme successfully.
The objective of the programme is to educate the participants who are aspired to join the investment management with or without prior exposure experience in the field. The programme is structured in such a way that the participants from another stream can acquire the essential knowledge to become an investment management expert. It is designed to benefit executives who have recently taken on or are being groomed to take on, significant managerial responsibilities in future in the field of investment management. The Programme would draw upon the work experience of such executives and provide additional knowledge and skills, to make them effective investment managers.

Note: This is an indicative list of courses. Institute may change the courses from time to time to meet the demand of the Industry/Learners.
Programme Delivery
Courses will be delivered through on-line mode using an appropriate technology Synchronized platform. Lectures will be delivered through broadband based technology involving two-way audio and video communication. Sessions will be held once in a week, generally on weekends. Participants can attend sessions directly from their desktop/laptop (Direct-2-device).Participants will be provided reading materials etc. for each course. They may also interact with the concerned faculty through e-mails/ chat mode.
The academic sessions will start from August 2021. Sessions will be held on every Sunday.
The normal timing of the sessions will be as follows:
Sunday, First session : 3:00 PM to 4:15 PM
Sunday, Second session : 4:30 PM to 5:45 PM
The time gap between two consecutive sessions is to give the participants a break. On some days, the classes may extend beyond the mentioned time. In addition to attending interactive sessions, participants have to undertake online quizzes, assignments and examinations.
Attendance Criteria
Participants are expected to attend all sessions of a given course. However, Participants may take leave on account of emergencies, participation in management festivals or co-curricular activities, etc., subject to the approval of the Programme Coordinator. However, 75% minimum attendance requirement would be considered for the final grading.
Pedagogy
The pedagogy will be a judicious mix of lectures, case discussions, project work, term papers, and assignments etc.
Eligibility:
Diploma (10+2+3) or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (10+2+3) or 10+2+4) or 2 years Master’s Degree or equivalent from a recognised university (UGC/AICTE/DEC/AIU/State Government) in any discipline with minimum 50% aggregate marks of all the years.
Minimum 2 years of work experience is required post completion of qualifying education.
Or
Fresher with professional qualification like CA/ICWA/CS/CFA/CFP are also eligible to apply for the programme.
Assessment & Certification
Performance of participants will be monitored on a continuous evaluation basis through quizzes, assignments, tests and examinations. The participant is required to score minimum marks/grades as decided by the Institute from time to time to complete the course.
