Progress in science and technology and their adoption, predominantly by western economies and upper economic segment of emerging economies has caused an ever increasing divide between the rich and the poor, the haves and the have-nots, thereby challenging the efficient market hypothesis. Efforts to intervene profitably, by MNCs, at the Bottom of the Economic Pyramid, have been half hearted at best. The majority of the social interventions, however has been done by social entrepreneurs and social enterprises, including public sector enterprises. However their goal to provide sustainable solutions, has been compromised by systemic challenges that exist at the institutional (or lack of it) level.
Through an intensive 3 day programme, the participants, shall be sensitized on the nature and manifestation of the structural, functional, resource and governance related challenges that hinder the performance of social enterprises, and threaten the well-meaning intent of social entrepreneurs.
The programme is divided into 2 major modules. The first module introduces the participants to the different forms of social enterprises and the managerial problems faced by social entrepreneurs in running those enterprises. The second module introduces the participants to the different optimal solutions employed by entrepreneurs as well as the leadership styles of social entrepreneurs. A broad module wise content is described as under.
