The fifth batch of PGPMX began at IIM Indore, Mumbai Campus on October 4, 2015. The induction programme was held at the new campu
s of IIM Indore, Mumbai Campus, where Professor Shubhamoy Dey, Chair, PGPMX briefed the students about the programme. He also discussed about teaching pedagogy, campus module, international immersion etc. The orientation programme was followed by a faculty introduction session.
Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director, IIM Indore; mentioned the benefits of opting for PGPMX at IIM Indore. He also briefed about the mission and vision & alignment of courses with the same. Through his presentation, Professor Krishnan showcased the state-of-the-art facilities, events and other academic and non-academic activities of IIM Indore Campus. He also focused upon increasing the integration between IIM Indore and Mumbai campus; so that both the campuses can work in collaboration.
Chief Guest for the Inaugural Ceremony was Mr. Prashant Soni, CEO-Sundaram BNP Paribas Fund Services. Mr. Soni summarized the
mutual funds industry and growth of the Indian economy, further narrowing it down to the growth of individual industries for a 5 year horizon. Taking an example of an insurance company during his presentation, Mr. Soni described different aspects of the industry, like number of players, different segments, channel contribution, customers etc. and discussed about their inter-correlation. He also sensitized the new batch about the opportunities that they can have in this sector. ‘A huge growth is expected in Mutual Funds sector in terms of jobs, compensation etc. due to increasing demand and overall growth scenario’, he concluded.
This was followed by Q&A session in which the participants cleared their doubts regarding the BFSI/MF industry.
The event concluded with the presentations on library facilities and plagiarism by Dr. Akhtar Parvez.
