The new batch of Advanced Management Programme for Corporate Leaders (AMPCL) began at IIM Indore on June 26, 2021. Offered in collaboration with VC Now, the programme was inaugurated by Prof. Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore; in the presence of Dr. Philip Mathews, Lead-Leadership Development, Tata Group Human Resources; Prof. Prashant Salwan, Chair, Industry Interface Office, IIM Indore; Prof. Subin Sudhir, Chair, Executive Education, IIM Indore and Mr. Darayas Mehta, Director, VC Now.
Prof. Rai noted that now is the time to bring about a paradigm shift in the workplaces. ‘We need to talk not just about the organizational objectives, but also understand the satisfaction and expectations of the workers and the employees. We should find the purpose, and search what steps need to be taken to achieve that purpose which is in line with the organization’s vision and mission’, he said. Unless a person is happy in doing what he or she is meant to be doing, they cannot attain a sense of fulfilment. ‘We need the organizations to have a transformation from commitment to integrity, and from individualistic point of view to the larger good’, he said. He mentioned that one can become a transformational leader by knowing the people and understanding their needs. ‘Stimulate your people intellectually and discuss with them. Inspire them – lead by example. Idealise influence. Make sure you live a life in line with the values that you claim your organization has and the ones you follow’, he concluded.
Dr. Philip Mathews noted that leadership has a lot to do with who one is as a person. ‘What differentiates us as humans from the other living beings is the ability to reflect. The pandemic has forced us and given us opportunities to be more reflective. If you have to look at leadership at the fullest, you need to find the ideal self with a personal vision; the real self with a personal balance sheet, find a learning agenda, experiment and practise and start trusting and supporting relationships’, he said. He mentioned that the current and the future vision should always be connected. ‘If you aren’t doing something now for your future vision, something isn’t right. Leadership starts from personal self, by active participation’, he concluded.
Prof. Salwan briefed the new batch about the programme. ‘A corporate leader needs to look for opportunities and find solutions for removing the obstacles and taking his company forward’, he noted.
Mr. Darayas Mehta also welcomed the new batch and noted that the programme is aimed at delivering a general management perspective of all the key functions of a business which will help leaders to lead effectively in the VUCA world.
The event concluded with a Q&A session. A total 75 participants have registered for the programme.
