The largest cultural, management and literary fest of Central India—Atharv, organized by Five Year Integrated Programme in Management participants at IIM Indore began on September 06, 2019. The three-day event’s theme this year is ‘Order in Chaos’. Approximately 2000 participants from colleges all over the country will attend the fest. The total prize money for Cultural and Management events is worth Rs. 6 Lacs.
The inauguration of the fest took place in the presence of Col. Gururaj Gopinath Pamidi, CAO, IIM Indore and Professor Sneha Thapliyal, Faculty, IIM Indore. The opening ceremony started with the lamp-lighting, followed by the Saraswati Vandana. This was followed by awarding prizes to the merit holders in the Pi-Quiz Scholarship Test, conducted by Atharv for underprivileged children, in association with IIFL Foundation. IIM Indore alumnus, Mr. Ekagra Sharma, who is the writer of the Kapil Sharma Show graced the occasion as a guest speaker, and engaged the audience in a mirthful speech. Dastaan, a talent showcasing brand entertained the audience with musical performances, ghazals and poetry.
The first day of the event witnessed numerous competitions including HeadhunteR- the HR event, E-Conjecture-the economics event, Avant Garde-the business plan event, Devil’s Advocate-the mock trial, Vendition Vendetta-the marketing event, Imperium, the case study competition and Chaitanya-the leadership event among the literary and management events. The first rounds of the Inter Varsity British Parliamentary Style Debate were also conducted. The Pi-Quiz ran throughout the day, which is a talent search exam conducted for the students of classes 9th to 12th.
The cultural events included Crescendo, the acoustic music event, iSO, the photography event, Vignette, the filmmaking event and Halla Bol—the nukkad natak. Crescendo was judged by Ms. Mallika Mehta, also known as the Adele of Mumbai. She will also be opening for Mr. Indeep Bakshi on the Bollywood-Punjabi Night on the 8th of September. ISO was judged by photographer Mr. Sanjeet Chouhan, who stood second in National Geographic’s Travel Story competition.
Day 1 of the fest concluded with the highlight of the day-Comedy Night. The participants and the IIM Indore community got a chance to see the famous comedian Mr. Vipul Goyal known as ‘Humorously Yours’ on YouTube perform live at the campus, for the second time.
The second day of Atharv’19 (7th September) will witness Vanity- the fashion show, Permadeath-the gaming event, Delirium, the battle of bands and the finals of Halla Bol. The management events of Day 1 will continue on Day 2.
