The inauguration ceremony of the Executive Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Management, Batch-01 (EPGCPM-01) took place virtually at IIM Indore on November 22, 2020. The event took place in the presence of Professor Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore; Professor Rajhans Mishra, Programme Coordinator, VLPE; Mr. Anish Srikrishna, President and CEO, Times Professional Learning and all the 54 participants registered for the programme. Professor Rajhans Mishra, in his welcome address, explained the features and curriculum of the programme.
Professor Rai welcomed the new batch and emphasized that the participants can learn better by engaging not only in the class but also outside the class to enhance their skills and knowledge in the management domain. Sharing the importance of three P’s—Purpose, Passion and Perseverance, he noted that we need to find out what change we would like to bring in the society and nation as a whole—and that would be our purpose. ‘We need to have a vision behind our purpose which encourages us to achieve our goals. Once we find out the purpose, we need to follow that with passion and have compassion for that as well. We need to understand that we derive our identity from our passion, and not the designation we hold. Lastly, we need to remain persistence and combine resilience with perseverance—which isn’t only about hard work; but also knowing what we would like to do. Invest your time in something you like and that would help you grow’, he said.
Mr. Srikrishna expressed his delight to be associated with IIM Indore. He said that the idea of the programme is to prepare managers to face unexpected situations and adverse conditions, and to strategize to overcome and cope better. ‘One of the most important skills of the managers is the ability to deal with ambiguity, since the Indian business environment is rapidly changing and evolving’, he said. Management education brings discipline and rigor to a person’s decision making and also challenges and hones his/her emotional quotient, preparing them for the challenges of management and leadership.
The EPGCPM programme is of one-year duration and classes will be conducted online on the weekends. This programme is exclusively designed for working executives and entrepreneurs that are looking for major upskilling in the management domain but finding it difficult to pursue a full-time programme.
