IIM Indore community members came together to take a pledge of New India on August 9, 2017. On August 9, 1942 the Quit India Movement began which later triggered the British leaving the country and India attaining independence on August 15, 1947. Quit India Day is observed every year on August 9 to mark the anniversary of Quit India Movement.
The month of August 2017 is landmark year for the country as it is witnessing 70 years of independence and 75 years of Quit India Movement.
On this auspicious occasion, to commemorate the great sacrifices of freedom fighters, the Institute administered pledge for New India to the students, faculty and staff members.
The gathering pledged to make wholehearted efforts to keep the country clean, poverty free, corruption free, terrorism free, communalism free and casteism free by the year 2022, the 75th year of Independence.
Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director and Col. Gururaj Gopinath Pamidi, CAO, IIM Indore along with all officers, staff and faculty members and students participated in the pledge to contribute to create a New India.
The pledge was administered by Mr. Jigar Kantharia, Officer of the Institute.
