The three day annual marketing fest of IIM Indore—Utsaha 2020 concluded on November 22, 2020. For the first time ever, the event was conducted online this year. The inauguration took place in the presence of Professor Ranjeet Nambudiri, Dean—Programmes and Professor Abhishek Mishra, Chair, IIO and Faculty, IIM Indore on November 20, 2020. The fest witnessed various leadership talks by industry stalwarts and was attended by 1500+ participants across the country.
The “Leadership Series” was conducted by Ms. Deepali Naair, CMO, IBM – India and South Asia, Mr. Bhisham Bhateja, Co-founder and COO, The Man Company; and Mr. Mainak Dhar, MD & CEO of Kimberly Clark- India and South Asia. They shared their experiences with the students and answered their queries.
A panel discussion on the topic—Driving Business Through Digital saw Ms. Jui Shinde, Search Specialist, Google; Ms. Kuhu Johri, Digital Marketing Strategist, Google; Ms. Madhura Mestry, Area Business Manager, Tanishq-Titan and Mr. Neeladri Sarkar, Brand Manager-Digital, Asian Paints as the panelists.
The attendees also used the opportunity to upskill themselves through the workshops- “Digital Media Marketing” by Mr. Raj Padhiyar, Founder, Digital Gurukul and “Big Data Analytics and Marketing, and AI in Marketing” by Mr. Govind Chandak, Business Head, NDSM.
Mr. Saurabh Bajaj, CMO, Britannia Dairy highlighted the critical trends that we can observe in the post-COVID world. He gave valuable insights on some vital questions like whether brands should increase or decrease their spends on media. Mr. Anushuman Goenka, CMO, Bacardi -Asia, threw light on how Bacardi became a pioneer in experiential marketing. He explained the scope of experiential marketing in the digital world and how Bacardi maintained a connection with its customers during the lockdown. Mr. Amit Sethiya, CMO, Syska, elucidated on what the FMCG market beholds and how Syska emerged as a leader in this sector. Mr. Swapnil Pingale, Marketing Division, GEP Worldwide enlightened the attendees on how to decode changing consumer behaviour to deliver successful marketing programs.
Mr. Raghav Gupta, MD – India and APAC at Coursera, talked about the best practices to leverage opportunities in online learning. Mr. Vikas Gupta, MD & CEO Wiley India spoke on how the executive education needs to be re-evaluated and re-transformed as a skill enhancement tool, as the Industry 4.0 pans out.
Professor Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore was the chief guest for the closing ceremony. He congratulated the Utsaha Team for their hard work and appreciated them for successfully conducting the event virtually. He shared the ‘Know-Be-Do’ framework and explained how these three tips can help a person become successful in life. ‘Always remember why you’re at a particular place, or why you’re doing a particular thing. Know your purpose and follow that passionately’, he said. While explaining the ‘Be’ part, he shared tips on how to be an ideal leader. He also encouraged the participants to always ‘do the right things and for the right reason’. He said that one needs to be compassionate, know self and seek self-improvement. ‘The right decisions may take time to be implemented, may be hard, but at the end you’ll find success and be happy about taking the right decision’, he concluded.
The event concluded on a high note with a vote of thanks by the fest coordinator, Rohit Sonker, Participant , – IPM and Amandeep prasad , Participant—PGP. The fest provided a platform to the students from across the nation to interact with various leaders and top notch managers and learn from their experiences.
