Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice or discipline which originated in India around 5000 years ago. Many studies have proved yoga to be effective as a complementary intervention for cancer, asthma and many other diseases.
Following the path of International Yoga Day, Pragat-I social sensitivity cell of IIM Indore organized a Yoga Day in Umaria Primary School and Shramik Govt. Primary School, Indore on 22nd June 2015. With focus on creating yoga as a daily activity for the students, Pragat-I distributed Yoga activity charts among the students and informed them about the importance of Yoga. The event saw an enthusiastic response with an active participation of 300 students. The support from the school staff was also very commendable.
IIM Indore has always tried to create the awareness among the schools about importance of health and fitness. Umaria Primary School and Govt. Primary School (Shramik Colony) are two of the four schools that come under School Adoption Programme
