IIM Indore witnessed a presence of 100 army officers from the Higher Defense Management Course from Srilanka on May 28, 2018. The purpose of their visit was to understand the education system, social life and the student life of the Indian students.
Col. Gururaj Gopinath Pamidi (Retd.), CAO, IIM Indore welcomed the officers and noted that they’re not just the guests of the Institute but also of the nation. Mentioning that once an army man is always an army man, he said that we all have a lot to learn from each other and impart knowledge to each other.
The officers got an opportunity to know about the Institute in an informative presentation by Mr. Jigar Kantharia, Safety Officer, IIM Indore. He discussed about IIMs and the vision and mission of these institutions. He also gave a brief introduction to the infrastructure and various programmes, faculty, and other facilities at IIM Indore. Professor Kamal K. Jain, Dean (Academic) also interacted with the officers. He answered queries related to academics and course curriculum raised by the officers.
Brigadier Navin Sud, SM; who was accompanying the officers thanked IIM Indore for the warm hospitality. He noted that the officers are enrolled in a tailor made course for the selected army persons and are taught about leadership and management. All of these officers have around 10-20 years of service experience and they stay for a period of six weeks during training. During the training period, they are informed about not only the management and academics but are also provided with an overview of the infrastructure of various institutions and brief about civil academia.
The officers enjoyed their visit to the Institute’s Learning Centre, Sports Complex, Academic Block, Stadium, hostels and canteens.
