IIM Indore in collaboration with Indian Technical and Economic Corporation Programme (ITEC) organized a Management Development Programme (MDP) on Promoting Women Entrepreneurship and Start-ups from March 02-06, 2020. Eighteen government officials, equivalent to the Joint Secretary in Indian context attended this five day programme. These participants came from Madagascar, Trinidad & Tobago, Vietnam, Iran, Morocco, Niger, Azerbaijan, Kenya, St. Kitts & Nevis, Costa Rica, Botswana, Uganda and Sri Lanka.
The objective of this programme was to help the women officials comprehend the conceptual framework of women entrepreneurship and start-up, discuss essential characteristics/traits of women entrepreneurs, enumerate the roles and responsibilities of women entrepreneurship and start-up trainer motivators and develop skills in conducting entrepreneurial motivation exercises. With the help of various expert sessions, they also got a chance to understand the importance of marketing management and prepare business plan for identified opportunity.
Professor Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore also interacted on Leadership & Culture.
The faculty members namely Professor D.L. Sunder, Professor Prashant Salwan, Professor Manoj Motiani, Professor Shanu Mehta, Mr. Rakesh Jain, Professor Harshal Lowalekar and Professor Swatantra took guest lectures on myriad of topics like Why Entrepreneurship, Identifying Business Ideas, Finance and Funding for Start-ups, Market Segments to Focus On, Evaluating a Business Idea, Low Cost Marketing, etc.
The programme also had some special lectures by experts. These included a sessions by Mr. Yashwant Suthar- Owner of Lootel Café, Indore; Ms. Saurabhi K., Owner of the organization Caragreen, Indore; and Mr. Pankaj B., Entrepreneur.
Participants also visited the Prestige Incubation Centre where presentations were given by young entrepreneurs on their start-ups. They also visited the Treasure Island Mall in the city.
The five day programme came to an end with certificate distribution by Prof. Himanshu Rai. They received a ‘Certificate of Participation’ on successful completion of the programme.
