Dr Mohammad Azeem khan is a visiting assistant professor in Economics at IIM Indore. Prior to joining IIM Indore, he served the Jindal Global Business School, OP Jindal Global University, Sonipat Haryana as an assistant Professor in Economics from January 2023 to June 2023. He earned his PhD degree from the Economic Sciences Department, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Before joining IIT Kanpur, he received a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Economics and a Master of Arts in Economics from Aligarh Muslim University. He also qualified the UGC Junior Research Fellowship exam in 2015.
His primary research interest lies in banking, monetary economics and applied econometrics. His PhD thesis focuses on Indian banks’ risk-taking behaviour and its determinants from various perspectives. His research work has been published in various reputed peer-reviewed national and international journals like Finance Research Letters, Journal of Economic Studies, Research in International Business and Finance, International Journal of Emerging Markets, and Singapore Economic Review, among others. His papers have been accepted for presentation at some prestigious national and international conferences like India Finance Conference, Annual Conference on Economic Growth and Development (ISI Delhi), Annual meeting of Allied Social Science Association (American Economic Association), International Finance and Banking Society Conference, International Young Finance Scholars’ Conference (Peking University HSBC Business School, Oxford Campus), and Scottish Economic Society Annual Conference, among others.
Further, he has been a reviewer for some good journals like Finance Research Letters, Applied Economics Letters incorporating Applied Financial Economics Letters, Cogent Economics and Finance and Journal of Economic Studies. He is interested in exploring topics in applied econometrics like advanced panel data and time series methods.
