Prof Dr Prashant Salwan is Professor of Strategy and International Business at Indian Institute of Management Indore India. He is an alumnus of London School of Economics and Political Science UK and a British Chevening Scholar and a Fulbright Scholar.
He has approximately twenty four years of experience, out of which sixteen years in academics and eight years in industry. He has PhD (Technology management and Strategy) two post graduate degrees in Management and International trade. He has been educated and trained at University of Pune, London School of Economics and Political Science, UK , Harvard Business School, Uni of Michigan, Ross School of Management, IIM B and IIMC. He has also undergone training in leadership for higher education institutes in University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.
He teaches subjects namely Strategic Management, Business Models, International Business, Strategic agility and resilience , and Multinational Management in various management degree programs (Post graduate, Executive post graduate programs). He has taught in USA, France, UK, UAE and India. He also teaches, Seminar Course in International Knowledge networks , International Strategic Management and seminar courses in Strategic management in Fellow program in management (PhD) program. He has guided eight PhD students . He has given invited talks at Ohio State University, Texas Uni at Dallas, Wharton School, Uni of Pennsylvania . He is regular invite for business model and innovation lectures at Wharton School Centre for Advances in Management. He was Sr Research fellow at Wharton School in 2018 .
Prof Salwan has provided customized training and consulting to Government of India, State governments , International Institutions like World Bank, Indian and Foreign Multinationals. His Fortune global one thousand ranked clients includes RIL, LG, Thomas cook, Panasonic, Suzuki Japan, ADAG, ONGC, GAIL, Aditya Birla Group, EIL,IPCA,ICICI Bank, SBI , BEL etc. He was the lead researcher for the Indian Competitiveness project Government of India . He is a World bank consultant and was lead consultant for the autonomy and strategic planning project . He is also consultant for UNDP, MHRD, MP Government.
Dr Salwan was Chairman of a research center titled Center for Indian Multinationals Education and Research . CIMER . Six thrust areas were focused on and under his propelling 12 refereed journal publications, six international conference papers and 12 case studies were published. 6th Annual Academy of International Business – India Chapter and CIMER International Conference on Globalization and Emerging Economies was conducted where in 160 abstracts were accepted under 28 technical sessions. Delegates from America, UK, Middle East participated. The research center was self-sustainable and had generated its own funds.
Dr Salwan has around seventy five research publications in national and international research journals, including Harvard Business Review, Journal of International Business and Education UK, JKM, EPW, Indian Journal of Industrial Relations, Indian Management Journal, Journal of Management and Technology, Defense Science Journal. He has published 48 case studies, including in Harvard Business School Publishing, Ivey, ECCH.
Till date Dr Prashant Salwan has co-authored four textbooks in the area of International business, International Marketing, Takeovers, Restructuring and Corporate Governance Mergers and Acquisitions, Strategic Management and one research book “Best business practices for global competitiveness. These books have been published by McGrawhill, Pearson and Sterling Publishers.
Dr Salwan also writes for newspapers like business standard , Times of India and DNA money and Hindi news papers Dainik Bhaskar, Partrika Hari Bhoomi.
Dr Salwan has won numerous teaching and research awards including the best teacher award at IIM I.
Prof Prashant Salwan is Board member in Government Public sector as well as member academic committee of NAAC. Dr Salwan has also been member in many AICTE, UGC high power committees.
