IIM Indore’s IRIS, the largest cultural and management fest of Central India and Ranbhoomi, the annual sports fest of IIM Indore started on November 12, 2021, with full enthusiasm. The events were conducted virtually. The fests were inaugurated by Prof. Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore. Mr. Rajan Singh, CEO, HabitStrong was the chief guest for the occasion. Prof. Swatantra, Chair-Hostel and Students Affairs and Col. Gururaj Gopinath Pamidi, CAO, IIM Indore were also present for the occasion.
Prof. Rai in his inaugural address said that the IRIS and Ranbhoomi fests have come a long way and enable/inspire enthusiasm and passion within the participants, which enhances their team spirit and builds their leadership skills. He shared an entirely novel full form of the word IRIS – Imagination, Relationships, Introspection and Synergy. Explaining further, he advised the participants to ‘imagine’ the kind of universe they wish to be a part of and then understand their role in building that universe. Mentioning that the ‘R’ in IRIS stands for ‘relationships’, he noted that IRIS and Ranbhoomi are ideal platforms that bring people from diverse backgrounds and demographics together, encouraging friendships and spreading joy around. “Invest in relationships, for these help us in becoming who we are, what we desire to be and stand by us in our lows and highs”, he said. He suggested the participants take out time and ‘introspect’ and acknowledge the fact that being a part of such a huge and glorious fest makes them privileged. “Take steps for the ones who aren’t as privileged as you are. Find out how you can contribute to their welfare, this togetherness builds a synergy that gives you the power to generate innovative thoughts and ideas. Use these ideas to create a better, just and vibrant world”, he concluded.
Chief Guest Mr. Rajan Singh, CEO HabitStrong, and an Ex-IPS officer, congratulated the IRIS and Ranbhoomi team for successfully conducting the event online. In his address, Mr. Rajan talked about self-motivation and self-recognition being the key tools for succeeding in the modern competitive world. “Big goals shouldn’t worry you. Do small things every day, they will add up together someday to make something big. The motivation should come from inside, for doing things you deeply care about. It’s okay to disconnect from others for a while and know more about yourselves”, he said.
The first day of the fest witnessed enthusiastic participation in events such as Ashwamedha, Drona, Jagriti, Chankya and many more. The participants showcased their outstanding talents in Laasya, the dance workshop. This time, even though the event was conducted online, the fest witnessed vast participation from various states of the nation.
The second day will witness events like Finance League, Golden Knot, Chain Reaction, Mantrana along with various others. The highlight for the second day would be a comedy night by Rahul Dua.
