IIM Indore’s team consisting of Amol Amodkar and Vipin Patel (both PGP 2018-20 Batch) won the BLoC Case Contest on February 27, 2019. The process started on January 07, and required the participants to submit to the point analysis of the case in approximately 800 words (along with separate numerical analysis and comparison matrix). There were three main challenges that were needed to be addressed namely; refining the current business model of 7Weaves (it’s the company on which the case was based), giving suggestions regarding scaling up their business model and designing an effective marketing strategy in order to market their products to global fashion brands.
The process for shortlisting was based on three major criteria i.e. how pragmatic and aligned suggestions are provided by the team, how unique their ideas were regarding the scale-up plan, and how creative and aligned the presented marketing plan was. The team noted that 7Weaves paid heavy emphasis on the sustainability aspects so they were also required to suggest a sustainable business approach.
Vipin says, ‘Our major USP was that the whole analysis was pragmatic and well-structured. We had done pretty heavy background research regarding the company and the industry (textile and garment industry, and silk industry), sustainability and viability aspects of business, and solution to current challenges being faced by 7Weaves.’
IIM Indore congratulates the team for their achievement.
