IIM Indore organised its annual three-day sports festival-Ranbhoomi during February 27-March 1, 2015. The fest received overwhelming response from the participants representing various institutes across the country. Mr. Sanjay Jagdale, President, MPCA, was the guest of honour for the fest.
A wide range of indoor and outdoor sports events included Football, Gully Cricket, Basketball, Badminton, Volleyball, Swimming, Chess, Carrom, Twister, Power-Lifting and Arm-Wrestling. The teams, representing various institutes, competed for different titles and medals in the competitions.
While the team from Amity University, Noida was declared the winner in Table Tennis, the team representing Sanghvi Institute of Management Studies won the Men’s Basketball finals. The winning title of Badminton was shared between the teams from Amity University and NMIMS, Mumbai. Sagar Institute of Research & Technology, Bhopal won the Football final match.
IIM Indore team won the Volleyball match against Jaipuria University. In the Swimming competitions also, the home team racked in a spectacular 25 medal haul- events included 50m & 100m Freestyle, 50 & 100m Breast Stroke, 50 & 100 m Back Stroke and 50m Butterfly – for both men and women. The teams representing IIM Indore also won both Chess and Carrom, with Amity University coming in second.
Mr. Ashutosh Kaushik of MTV Roadies-5 fame was on the campus and a version of Campus Roadies was held for the participants. Other events included Amplified (Music), FootLoose (Dance) and Spotlight (Drama).
Hockey legend, Mr. Mir Ranjan Negi was the guest of honour for the closing ceremony of the festival. Mr. Negi and Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director, IIM Indore, gave away medals, trophies and certificates to all the winners.
The event concluded with the VH1 SuperSonic EDM night, featuring the Lost Stories and the Progressive Brothers.
