IIM Indore’s IPM Participants conducted a cleanliness drive at the Indore Zoo on October 06, 2019 in an effort to make the zoo garbage free. The cleanliness drive was organised by team Ranbhoomi 2020, central India’s largest sports fest and the only undergraduate sports fest conducted by an IIM. The event was conducted in association with ARPF, a NGO working for the protection and conservation of biodiversity.
There were 60 volunteers in total, who were divided into teams of 10 and allotted different parts of the zoo premises to clean. Volunteers also interacted with the outside visitors, and created awareness about hygiene and cleanliness; proper waste segregation and promoting the government-sponsored Swachh Bharat Mission.
The cleanliness drive and awareness campaign was well received and applauded by the visitors as well as the Zoo Authorities. The volunteers successfully cleared out plastic waste weighing 20 Kg from the zoo premises in addition to creating awareness among more than 100 visitors.
