IIM Indore has always tried to serve the underserved of the nation and the ‘School Adoption Programme’ is another such step towards achieving that aim. Under this programme, Pragat-i, the Social Sensitivity Cell of IIM Indore took the initiative of installing ‘Mini Libraries’ in each of the 4 adopted schools namely, EG School, Pigdamber; Government Girl’s Primary School, Umaria; Government Primary School, Shramik Colony, Rau; and Government Primary School in Nawada. Books ranging from academic subjects to story books, general knowledge, fun and facts etc. were provided to these libraries.
Apart from this, stationery items (pencil, eraser, sharpener, notebooks, crayons, chart papers) were also distributed to around 510 students.
The Pragat-i team along with the iHelp Team also tried to create awareness among the students about the importance of Swachh Bharat. The volunteers of iHelp taught the children how to make the surroundings clean and the importance of a clean and healthy environment in keeping the diseases away.
The children thanked the IIM Indore team for the Mini Library and promised to read and learn to become a better person.
The initiative was supervised and supported by Professor Surbhi Dayal and Mr. Arunendra Vishwakarma from the Institute.
