NURTURING FUTURE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

Programme Overview
The programme is designed based on the guidelines provided by Ministry of Education, Government of India with a specific focus on the need for trained and experienced institutional leaders is also outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The specific objectives of the programme are to nurture faculty at different levels particularly at the early stage of their career, thereby creating a pool of potential leaders for generational transition. Considering this objective, the NURTURING FUTURE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM under the aegis of Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP), Ministry of Education, and Government of India will aim to achieve the following objectives:
- Inculcate leadership skills in faculty members at levels early in their career to advance both individual and organizational goals.
- Provide broad-based leadership skills for all faculty across all levels.
- Expand the pool of potential leaders for the range of leadership positions in HEIs.
- Prepare faculty to contribute effectively and proactively in collective decision-making, shared governance, developing initiatives, and problem solving.
- Enabling institute administration by building an efficient leadership quality among faculty.
The course will provide faculty participants with an integrated and comprehensive view of Leadership and its impact on HEIs. The course will begin by understanding oneself and the impact that one’s own behavior has on others. The program will enable an appreciation of different theories and models of leadership and sensitize the participants to various aspects of leadership. Leader’s impact on groups and individuals will be explored through various interactive case discussions and exercises. Essential leadership skills like communication, coaching and goal setting will also be discussed in the HEI context. The course also aims to present Leadership from an experiential learning approach; that is the participants not only read the concepts but also practice and experiment by using some of these techniques in a simulated academic institution situation. The programme will also focus on the need for a more focused approach to teaching in HEIs as a tool in developing human capital and influencing behavior and attitude of the students. Imparting afresh knowledge and skills and reinforcing new learning about the evolving technology to the teaching students and professionals is a constant challenge. The programme content will be designed under the following areas:
- Introduction and theories of leadership.
- Understanding oneself and impact of one’s behaviour on others.
- Essential leadership skills, like communication, feedback, coaching and goal setting.
- Leadership impact on teams.
- Emerging dimensions of leadership.
- Building and nurturing teams for excellence in HEIs.
- Handling conflicts and negotiations to drive excellence in HEIs.
- Change management.
Programme Delivery
The programme shall be coordinated and delivered by expert faculty members from IIM Indore. Participants will be required to attend the programme in residential mode, wherein they would be provided suitable accommodation at IIM Indore/Nearby hotels during the duration of training. Classes would be scheduled daily between 9:00 AM and 05:15 PM. Participants would also be assigned tasks for self-study, group activities, or field visits during the programme. IIM Indore shall use a judicious mix of lectures, case-studies, discussions, group activities, field visits, and prescribed reading material to increase the effectiveness of the training. The programme will be designed to maximize experiential learning by enabling greater interaction among peers to gain deeper understanding of the topics.

Target Audience
This program is aimed at faculty members across HEIs. This program would be useful for all faculty who are managing administrative or leadership roles in their institutions or who wish to do so soon.
Eligibility Criteria
Faculty who have a minimum 3 years of work experience and are from Centrally Funded Institutions are eligible to apply for the programme
Programme Fee
The batch 01 of the programme is sponsored by the Ministry of education i.e. the fees for the participants will be paid by the Ministry of Education
Accommodation
Participants will be provided with rooms on a twin sharing basis, in furnished air-conditioned rooms. Accommodation is on a twin sharing basis from noon of the day before the first day to noon of the day after the last day of the programme.
Status of IIMI Alumni for Executive Education Programmes
The participant who completes the programme successfully will be eligible for the Executive Education Alumni status of IIM Indore. The participant is required to apply separately along with the necessary fee of Rs. 1,000/-+ GST @18% per person (for two years) and Rs. 10,000/- + GST @18% per person (for Lifetime) to register his name with IIM Indore Executive Education Alumni.
The Executive Education Alumni status will be available on request and participants will be required to follow the documentation process set-up by the Alumni office. Mere successful completion of the programme, application submission, and fee does not entitle a participant to be eligible for executive education alumni status. lIM Indore reserves the right to confer executive education alumni status.
