IIM Indore’s flagship One-year full time EPGP (Executive Post Graduate Program) flagged off last month, and with students settling into their academic and daily routines, our Campus coordination committee decided it was time they let their hair down and organised a cultural evening cheekily titled ‘Ice Break’ at the campus. Held in second week of May, the event brought out some fun spirit in all of us as several students (and their families) participated at the event with full fervour.
Let’s break some ice!
True to its name, ‘Ice Break’ was the perfect evening to help students get to know each other beyond classrooms and discover the not-so academic side of each other 😊 In fact, it was a night of discoveries for most of us as we saw some powerhouse singers and guitar rockstars jamming up melodies while there were poets and stand-up comedians too! Then, there were others who shook a leg as break dancers and bhangra dancers!
The show kickstarted with a loud victory whistle from one of our batchmates, and that was followed by yoga chant-cum-performance by a professional troupe especially invited from Indore. This was followed by some back-to-back dance performances and poetry recitals by some of the children of EPGP participants.
Lough Out Loud
One of the performances that got the biggest reaction from the student community was the stand-up act by one of our batchmates who joked about our frenetic academic schedule and created a hilarious imaginary whatsapp conversation that had us all in splits!
Hitting the right chords
Music turned out to be the most popular category as we discovered quite a few of our batchmates are musically gifted as singers and guitarists. While some played medley of songs that got the audience dancing and grooving, others sang some uplifting older generation melodies that got many nostalgic.
The night closed with all of us hitting the stage and dancing to some great music played by our very own in-house DJ! The first cultural night by the EPGP 2017-18 batch was full of discoveries, fun and loads of laughter. Cheers to a grand start!
