AASHA, the IPM Social Club, is a social sensitivity cell run by the IPM students. It strives to take initiatives and organize events every year to provide a platform for students to realize their social responsibility and contribute as much as they can to society to create an impact. AASHA aims to make a difference one step at a time and impact people’s lives in our community and society by educating the community members about the various social issues and encouraging them to help in any way possible.
Recent activities of AASHA
- Discussion Forum
The Discussion Forum was incepted with the mission of promoting conversations in areas that weren’t a part of the academic environment but impact us every day. Topics ranging from racism, casteism in India, to gender, sexuality and media analytics are analysed in various perspectives of law, psychology, political science and critical thinking. A joint initiative of IPM Social Club along with the PGP SAC Coordinator and Treasury Team, this initiative was undertaken after realizing the vast knowledge gap in areas that are fundamental to our existence.
- Panacea
Panacea is the flagship event of AASHA and is conducted with the purpose of trying to solve social and environmental problems on our campus. In the last edition of this annual competition, the theme was “Mental Health Awareness of Security Workers.” All participating teams gave innovative and practical solutions that we hope to implement in the coming year.
- Pi Quiz Scholarship Examination
In association with Atharv-The Fest, Team AASHA organizes The Pi-Quiz Scholarship Test, an annual scholarship award given to meritorious children from unprivileged backgrounds to support and encourage them to study. The exam is held in two categories, class 5,6,7 and class 8,9,10, with prize money of Rs. 20,000 total and in both categories for 1,2,3 positions. It is a humble initiative to allow every child to prosper through the power of learning.
- HAPI, Help a Person Initiative
HAPI is the giving arm of the club. An initiative to help and support those in need, made possible only by the IIM-I community’s kindness, which gives wholeheartedly to the club. Team AASHA collects donations in the form of clothes and blankets from the campus and provides it to the people outside who are not privileged enough to fulfil their basic needs.
- Blood donation drive
AASHA organizes an annual blood donation drive in partnership with the city hospital. Last year on November 10th, 76 volunteers from our community volunteered to donate blood and save the lives of many people in our society.
- Dan Utsav
Keeping in mind the staff’s importance that helps us in the campus like the housekeeping in all ways possible, team AASHA organizes a small session for the staff where they are shown a movie for recreational and awareness purposes and served refreshments. Several volunteers and the team express their gratitude towards them in their ways to acknowledge their efforts for us.
- Tree plantation driveTeam AASHA conducted a tree plantation drive in association with Ranbhoomi last year as per our commitment to the environment and to create a more ecologically sustainable future.
We at AASHA would like to wholeheartedly thank our donors, volunteers and well-wishers for all the support, time and love. The spirit of generosity and kindness runs deep in our small IIM-I Community and we hope to continue our initiatives and start new ones with your support.
